Rose quartz is the pink form of quartz, coloured by trace amounts of titanium, iron, or manganese. It is one of the oldest documented heart-chakra stones in continuous use, with bead finds dating back several thousand years across the Mediterranean.
Modern practice keeps rose quartz on the bedside table or in a coat pocket for ordinary, low-drama heart work, the kind that doesn't announce itself.
